Marketing Consent and Messaging Notice
Which messages need your agreement, which do not, and how to stop them
This notice explains consent for promotional messages from CediCash, how service messages differ, and how to change your mind.
The short version
Promotional messages need your yes. Messages about your own ticket never stop while your entry is live.
Two kinds of message
CediCash sends two kinds of SMS, and they are treated differently. Understanding the difference explains why some messages continue after you have asked for marketing to stop.
| Kind | Examples | Your agreement |
|---|---|---|
| Service messages | Payment confirmation, receipt number, ticket issued, draw completed, result for your group, winner notification, claim and payout steps, security codes, replies to your support case. | Not marketing. These are part of the game you entered. They continue while your entry is live and cannot be switched off by opting out of marketing, because they are how you are told what happened to your money and your ticket. |
| Promotional messages | Invitations to play a new campaign, reminders about a campaign closing, offers, and campaign news. | Require your agreement. They are sent only where you have opted in and they always carry a way to stop them. |

How you agree
- You agree by giving a clear, positive action — a box you tick yourself, a reply to a message, or an instruction through the service code.
- We do not use pre-ticked boxes, and silence is never treated as agreement.
- Agreement to receive promotional messages is never a condition of playing. A player who declines still buys tickets, gets receipts and receives results in exactly the same way.
- We keep a record of when and how you agreed, and what you were told at the time.
- Email agreement is separate from SMS agreement. Agreeing to one does not commit you to the other.
How you stop
| To stop | What to do |
|---|---|
| Promotional SMS | Reply STOP to any promotional message, or ask support. Stopping is free. |
| All campaign marketing | Ask support to remove you from campaign marketing entirely. |
| Email marketing | Use the unsubscribe link in the email, or ask support. |
| Everything, including your account | Ask support to close your account. Any ticket already bought stays valid and any prize already won remains payable. |

How often, and when
- Promotional messages are capped at two per campaign per participant. We do not send repeated reminders to the same player.
- Promotional messages are sent only within the permitted promotional sending window. Service messages are sent whenever the event happens, because a receipt or a result should not wait.
- Promotional messages are never sent to a player whose account is under review for responsible-play reasons.
Who the message comes from
- All participant messages are sent from a single sender identity, CediCash, across the MTN, Telecel and AirtelTigo networks.
- A message may be delivered through a mobile network operator or an aggregator that transmits it on our behalf. They handle the number it is sent to but do not use it for their own marketing.
- Our messages name the receipt number and, where relevant, the prize category. They never ask for a payment, a PIN, an OTP or your mobile money balance.
What we use to decide what you receive
- Whether you have agreed to marketing, and when you agreed.
- Whether you are currently in a campaign — which determines whether service messages are relevant to you.
- The campaigns you have taken part in, so that a message is about something you have shown interest in rather than a generic blast.
- We do not buy contact lists, and we do not message people who have never registered with us.
Your information and your rights
- Your phone number and messaging history are personal information, handled under our Privacy Policy and Ghana's data protection law.
- You can withdraw your agreement at any time, and you can ask to see the consent record we hold for you.
- You can ask us to correct the phone number or details we hold.
- Requests go to Dr. Sylvia Dede Atterh (+233 (0) 244 913 981) or support@cediscash.com, and are answered promptly and within forty days.
- Complaints about messaging can also be raised through the Complaints Procedure, and about privacy to the Data Protection Commission.
The rules we follow
Our messaging follows Ghana's data protection law and the framework of the Data Protection Commission, and the regulatory guidelines that apply to promotional messages sent over mobile networks. Where those requirements are stricter than this notice, the stricter requirement applies.
